I was treated to a trip to Harrogate and a theatre visit by my kids recently.
The morning after the show, we were hungover and in desperate need of some healthy fare.
We were recommended The Farm Bistro, a most charming wholefood restaurant in the town centre of Harrogate (insta @farmharrogatebistro).
It has a small, but delicious menu with something for all tastes, but with fresh, top quality produce a priority.
I enjoyed the vegetarian breakfast of bean cake, homemade beans seasoned with fresh thyme, mushrooms, poached eggs, fried kale and sourdough toast – £10 and probably the best veggie brekkie I’ve ever eaten.
It’s an upstairs bistro on Oxford Street and the decor is truly fascinating and creative. There’s a farm theme in keeping with the name with saddles, riding hats and a huge array of paraphernalia all artistically displayed and very quirky.
It’s well worth a visit if you’re in that part of Yorkshire. The staff are super-friendly too, so is the lovely chef who gave us the secret to his melt-in-the-mouth kale – deep-fried in olive oil with a sprinkling of sea salt. Who’d have thought?
